Derby Tutoring Centre is a friendly family-run business with professionalism and great customer service at its core alongside providing expert tuition. All tutors are qualified in the area they teach and have a current DBS certificate.
I am a co-founder of DTC and a full-time tutor at the centre. I have a PGCE in Mathematics from Nottingham Trent University and have been involved in teaching for over 15 years. As well as secondary teaching, I have experience of working in primary schools as a teacher specialising in Mathematics. I am also a GCSE Maths Examiner for a major exam board, giving me an extra insight into helping students pass their exams. This is also coupled with an up-to-date knowledge of the curriculums through primary to A-level.
As well as being a fully qualified maths teacher, I hold a Cambridge CELTA and teach TESOL, with 9 years experience of teaching English in Japan.
Comments from my own 2018 GCSE tutees:
“Hi Jon, thanks for the text. She got a 7 which is fantastic. She was just 5 marks off an 8. Thanks for all your help.” - Christine
“Just to let you know that she is really happy with her level 4 because at least she won’t have to re-take it!! She can go to college and do the business level 3 course she wanted now. Thanks for your help once again, I’m sure it made a huge difference to her ability. Best wishes, Emily.”
I am also a co-founder of DTC and my primary role is to manage the office and dedicate myself to ensuring our customers have a great tutoring experience at DTC. I have previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant, in particular working with children that have SEN, and in this capacity I am always on-hand to provide support to our tutors.
